The Minister of Religion Visa allows foreign nationals employed in pastoral roles by religious organisations to live and work in the UK for up to 3 years and 1 month, with possible extensions of 3 more years. It provides a route to Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) and eventual British citizenship for eligible applicants.

Applicants must meet specific criteria, including age, job offer, financial stability, and English proficiency. They must also secure a Certificate of Sponsorship from a licensed UK religious organisation.

Visa holders can perform ministerial duties, work for their sponsor, volunteer, study, and bring family members. However, public funds and business ownership restrictions apply.

Applicants must have at least £1,270 in savings for 28 consecutive days before applying, unless exempt due to sponsorship or prior UK residence.

Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency through tests, UK degrees, or being from an English-speaking country.

The process involves securing a Certificate of Sponsorship, gathering documents, applying online, paying fees, and providing biometric data.

The visa costs £769 from outside the UK and £885 for extensions or switching within the UK, plus the Immigration Health Surcharge (£1,035/year).

The visa can be extended for another 3 years if employment continues. After 5 years, holders may apply for ILR if residence, employment, and English requirements are met.

Dependents include partners, children under 18, and children over 18 if already in the UK as dependents. They must apply separately and meet financial requirements.
