Religious Worker Visa

Suitable for pastoral roles such as leading congregations, preaching, or performing key religious rites.

Valid initially for up to 3 years; extendable for a total stay of up to 6 years.

Provides a direct route to settlement (ILR) after 5 years.

Allows dependents to join you in the UK.

Must have a Certificate of Sponsorship from a licensed religious organization.

Knowledge of English proven through an approved test, qualification, or nationality.

Must meet financial requirements with at least £1,270 in savings unless exempt.

Role must be a genuine vacancy with pastoral responsibilities such as leading worship or officiating ceremonies.

Leading a congregation or religious community.

Preaching the essentials of the faith.

Performing ceremonial duties such as weddings, funerals, or religious rites.

Providing spiritual guidance to the community.

Minimum age: 18 years or older.

Apply up to 3 months before starting your job in the UK.

Processing time: around 3 weeks if applying from outside the UK; 8 weeks if applying inside the UK.

Priority (£500) and Super Priority (£1,000) processing available in some locations.

Certificate of Sponsorship reference number.

Valid passport with at least one blank page.

Bank statements showing £1,270 minimum savings unless exempt.

English language test results or exempt nationality proof.

Tuberculosis test results if required.

Biometric information (fingerprints and photo).

Proof of relationship for any dependents applying.

Visa fee: £719 for up to 3 years; £1,420 for more than 3 years (per person).

Immigration Health Surcharge: £1,035 per adult per year; £776 per child per year.

Additional costs apply for Priority and Super Priority processing if chosen.

5-year continuous stay requirement.

Must pass the Life in the UK Test.

No serious immigration or criminal law breaches.
