India Young Professionals Scheme Visa

Open to Indian nationals aged 18–30

Stay allowed: up to 2 years

Entry via ballot; two ballots per year (February & July)

Free entry and exit from the UK within visa validity period

Must be an Indian citizen aged 18–30

Hold a bachelor’s degree or higher (RQF Level 6, 7, or 8)

Have at least £2,530 in savings for 28 consecutive days within 31 days of application

Cannot apply if you have children under 18 living with you or if you’ve previously held a YPS visa

Can work in most jobs or be self-employed (no employees, equipment under £5,000, premises leased)

Can study (some courses require ATAS certificate)

Cannot access public funds or stay beyond 2 years

Cannot bring family members or work as a professional sportsperson

Ballot entry requires passport details, contact information, and identity proof

Ballot is free; results announced within 2 weeks

Two ballots per year (February & July)

Successful candidates have 30 days to apply after invitation

Apply via the UK Government website, choosing Youth Mobility Scheme → India

Prove identity via UK Immigration: ID Check app or at a visa application centre

Provide all required documents including proof of funds and qualifications

Apply within 30 days of ballot invitation and travel to the UK within 6 months

Valid passport or travel document

Bank statements showing £2,530 savings for 28 consecutive days

Educational qualification certificates

TB test results (if applicable)

Criminal background check from Indian authorities

Certified translations for non-English/Welsh documents

Application fee: £319

Immigration Health Surcharge: £776 per year

Processing time: 3 weeks after identity verification and document submission

Priority service: £500 (5 working days); Super priority service: £1,000 (next working day)

Visa shows start/end dates and conditions

Travel allowed anytime within visa validity

No extensions or settlement under YPS route

Must leave the UK after 2 years unless switching to a different visa
